winter

For many people, the time just after the Christmas and New Years holidays can be incredibly difficult. The cold, dark months of winter loom ahead and the warm rains and blooming colors of spring seem far away.

We at Fjor Films aren’t immune to the sobering effects of snow and cold, either. But we have a few ideas for you to get out of a mid-winter slump and start feeling active, alive, and excited again.

Read a funny book or listen to a favorite comedian

Find a book by Erma Bombeck, Dave Barry, Patrick McManus, or Bill Bryson. Or find a recording of a favorite stand-up comic that you love. Laughter is one of the best ways that you can make those cold feelings of winter disappear.

Listen to some happy music

If the snowdrifts outside your home have you feeling cooped up and stir-crazy, put on some music and turn the volume up a bit. Dancing around the house is a great way to get out of a slump and it will also help you burn some calories!

Cook a summer-themed meal

Pining for the taste of a bratwurst and some corn-on-the-cob? We all want to support local growers and eat food that’s in-season, but sometimes splurging and buying some out-of-season foods can help shake things up. Try having an indoor barbecue or picnic.

Have a snowball fight

Sometimes the only way to beat ’em is to join ’em. Start an impromptu snowball fight with your friends or kids and see if you don’t start to tolerate the snow just a bit more. Sledding and outdoor ice skating are also great ways to enjoy the colder weather while it’s here!

Give these ideas a shot and let us know how it goes!

Happy wintering!
