fathers day hand

My father drove a truck the entire time I was growing up. He owned his own truck and hauled many different things over his career. He always kept his truck nice and I was so proud to have him as my dad.

When I was little, I would beg to go on the road with my father and he would tell me that as soon as I was toilet trained he would take me with him. Well, by the time I was two years old I was on the road with my dad. By the time I was five I had been in just about all the western states. I loved to travel. I loved to see the different places, whether it was the beautiful cost of Oregon or the Mohave Desert, each place filled me with wonder. More than seeing the sights, I loved the time I got to spend with my dad. He was, and still is, my hero.

When I was little, my father was superman. He could do no wrong. His CB radio handle was Hazard, because he knew how to move his truck down the road faster than anyone else. When we would haul livestock, he would help all the other trucks load and we would be the last to pull out of the corrals. Without fail, we would be the first truck to arrive at the destination and many times would be almost unloaded when the next truck would show up. I was so proud that my dad was the best at what he did.

My dad taught me how to treat a lady. I remember watching him always open the door for my mother. He was always more than willing to jump in and do the dishes, or prepare a meal. He worked hard to provide my family with the things we were in need of.

There are so many more lessons that I learned from my dad. These lessons have helped shape me into who I am. I owe so much of my success to my parents who taught me how to be a hard-working, big-thinking, contributing member of society. It’s these lessons I hope to pass on to my own three sons. I am grateful that they are able to spend time with my dad right now while they are young. A hero like my dad can do so much to influence others. I want his legacy and life to live on way after he is gone.

With his personal documentary produced by Fjor Films, it will. My great-great grandchildren will have the opportunity to know my hero and have him influence theirs lives for the better also. They will be better people because my father lived a great life and was wise enough to document it for them.
